we only got one life
we gonna do it real biggie, sky is the limit in this town. we taking over the city, we up too high to bring us down. we gonna do what we do, we gonna do what we do. three in the morning, four in the morning.
Cam was late to the party, as usual. She never found a reason to arrive before 11 pm. Half the time, she'd be texted about the party that day; or else, she'd have a few to choose between, and wouldn't decide until she'd figured out until she was already out the door of her parents' Long Island mansion. Besides, it's not like anything interesting would happen before then anyway, as far as she was concerned. Nothing good ever happened until it started to get late and people already had a few drinks.
Not wanting to be behind, Cam had taken a shot before she left the house, and made it her first order of business when she entered the party to find some friends to take another one with. It wasn't hard; when it came to parties, Cam had friends everywhere, even if she couldn't remember whose party it was in the first place. She was still behind many on drinks, but found herself pleasantly buzzed. Of course, the drinks didn't end there; after a little dancing and some gossip in the kitchen, it was back to more drinks. She was rather tipsy when she decided it was time to go on the prowl, roaming the party with wandering eyes until she finally found an appropriate target: Emery.
Cam hadn't seen much of Emery since he went off to college. While he was still at Worthington, they had gotten together a few times; he was a known player and quite attractive, things that worked well for Cam and her wandering eye. She'd heard through the grapevine that he had a girlfriend now, but she didn't really care. A guy like that wasn't about to tie himself down, was he?
She strode up to him, a flirtatious grin on her face. "Look who it is. It's been forever, how are you?" She patted his arm playfully as she spoke.

We are the bruised and broken
For the first time in his life in a very long time things were finally starting to feel almost normal. So he still hadn’t spoken to his father and he was still living in his grandparent’s penthouse, but that was kind of the norm for a kid of the Upper East Side, right? Emery was going to school full time at Columbia, had a steady girlfriend who he loved more than just about anyone or anything else and was finally healing after his years of hurt and heartbreak. Not very much of a partier anymore, it was strange to see the boy sitting on one of the couches off in the corner sipping on his beer. It wasn’t that he was avoiding people, he was just kind of observing. He was no longer into being part of the yelling and dancing masses, finding it to be much more fun to watch while being mostly sober.
The shaggy haired boy took a moment to look around for his blonde haired beauty, wondering where it was she had gone. When she seemed nowhere inside he settled back in the chair he was currently sat on and took another sip of his drink as his bright blue eyes went back to looking around the room at everything else that was going on in the room.
Caught up in observing, Emery hadn’t noticed Cam walking toward him from the other direction and was taken by surprise at the sound of her voice and the feeling of her hand against his arm. Looking up at her the boy smiled politely. ”I’m doing great. How are you?” he replied a bit more stiffly then he had intended. He and Cam had never exactly been friends, but rather kept things on a physical level. Once he and Raleigh had started dating the two just simply had little to do with each other and the boy just couldn’t help but to wonder exactly why she was looking for a conversation now.
